Bradford man accused
Response to a potential domestic dispute in Bradford has led to an arrest. 32 year-old Aaron Dial was arrested after a woman called police regarding a domestic dispute and protection from abuse order. Bradford City Police say that Dial became combatant and punched an officer in the eye before being subdued . Dial was charged with assault and resisting arrest. He was jailed on $50,000 bail.

Jerry Sandusky again asked a judge to throw out the child sexual abuse charges against him on Wednesday, arguing that some counts are too vague to defend and others involve alleged victims whose identities have not been determined.
The former Penn State assistant football coach’s trial is scheduled to get under way in less than three weeks, although the judge has not ruled on a separate motion from Sandusky asking for a delay.
Woman sentenced for death of 11 year old
Drouin could spend about 11 years in prison. Yesterday Robin Drouin was sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years for vehicular manslauter in the 2nd degree and 1 1/3 to 4 years for criminally negligent homicide she put her head on the table in front of her and started to cry. Julie Wolfer was happy and relieved that the woman who killed her 11 year old daughter will spend time behind bars. Wolfer held up the hairties that were in her daughters hair the night she was killed and said she wanted Drouin to have them to remind her every day of the loss she has caused their family
More on Kane Tragedy
If you didn’t hear on our stations yesterday, we got a call from Kane Borough Police updating WVTT on the incident at KCH on Tuesday. It happened at 9:50 am on the 15th. A pick-up truck was idling on an incline and somehow started to roll down hill and hit a picnic table which inurn hit Dale Ostrander. According to the KCH website, Ostrander was the manager for the cardiac lab. The driver was not in the truck- the driver was standing a few feet away from their vehicle. Kane police are investigating.
Growth in NY
Empire State Development’s Board of Directors met yesterday in the big apple to approve funding totaling more than 1 million dollars. The directors are pledging to create 78 new jobs while keeping about 490 existing jobs in New York State. The funding will leverage over $58 million in investments across the state. Empire State Development President Kenneth Adams says that the actions of the board show the state’s strong commitment to the growth of job creation, and that companies are making the right choice to invest and grow in NYS.
Summer safety
With summer just around the corner the US Environmental Protection Agency is joining forces with the national council on Skin Cancer Prevention the FDA and the National Park service to highlight the dangers of skin cancer and too much exposure to the sun. The EPA is introducing simple steps Americans can take to protect themselves. The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention designated the Friday before Memorial Day “Don’t Fry Day” as a way to highlight sun safety.
Local Poliotical Roundtable this afternoon
Senator Catharine Young and Senate Education Committee Chairman John Flanagan will join area educators for a roundtable discussion on regional high schools. The meeting is set for this afternoon from noon until 2 pm at the Scharmann Theatre at JCC in Jamestown. The New York State Board of Regents has examined the concept of a regional high school for several years, and formally put the idea forward in their 2012 Legislative Priorities. The discussion will focus on the legal, practical, educational and economic impact of establishing a regional high school.
Settlement from Skechers Shoes
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced a record $45 million dollar nationwide settlement with Skechers, USA, Inc. to end the deceptive marketing of its footwear products including Shape-Ups, Tone-Ups, and the Skechers Resistance Runner athletic shoes. Under the settlements reached with New York, 44 states and the Federal Trade Commission, up to $40 million is being allocated for refunds to be paid back to consumers who purchased the shoes, and Skechers will pay an additional $5 million to the states.
This settlement forces Skechers to ‘shape up’ by ceasing to make unsubstantiated health and medical claims for their so-called toning shoes. New Yorkers who purchased these shoes as a result of Skechers’ deceptive marketing practices will now be eligible for refunds.
City of Olean news
We no longer have to deal with the road gravel from the winter months. The street sweeper started this week and will rotate on an A to B schedule. The Olean Police Department says they are ticketing those who are parked in the way of the sweeper. The street sweeper schedule is printed on the back of your water bill.
